Abstrakt: The professionalization of the armed forces in most countries of the world has brought the military as an organization and as a profession closer to the civilian environment, especially in terms of human resource management. The aim of the paper is to point out the positives of using competency models in the environment of the Armed Forces and to highlight the current status of the competency approach in the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic.
