Abstrakt: This scientific paper focuses on the extremely important role that higher education plays in the development of critical thinking in the context of protection against disinformation spread especially on the Internet and social networks. The author first deals with the broader importance of education for individuals and the whole society, pointing out its role in forming informed and critically thinking citizens. Subsequently, he focuses on the specific contribution of higher education in the fight against disinformation, because during it students acquire the necessary abilities and skills to analyse the received information and detect manipulative techniques. In conclusion, he emphasizes the need for further investments in increasing media literacy, digital skills, and critical thinking in the educational system in order to increase society's resistance to disinformation and manipulation in the online space.
